This hill station, Auli, is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 2,500 metres. One can get the magnificent view of the snow capped Himalayan ranges. The soft snow laden slopes are apt for skiing. There are wonderful opportunities for trekking and nature walks in the nearby places.
Located at a distance of 16 kms from Joshimath, the slopes in Auli are all 9000 feet above the sea level and densely covered with deodar and oak forests, thereby reducing velocity. From here one can get awesome views of the Nanda Devi, Kamet, Mana Parvat and Dunagiri ranges.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
For the adventurers Auli is at its best in winters. The snow on the steep slopes makes the spectacular ground for skiing. Skiers from far and away throng Auli from late November to late March.

Gurso Bugyal- 3km trek from Auli will lead you to the picturesque Gurso Bugyal. Views of the imposing Himalayas like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Dron parvat are invigorating from Gurso Bugyal.
Joshimath - Joshimath is one of the four ‘math’ created by Adi Shankaracharya. Joshimath is the home of Shri Badrinath during winters. Joshimath is connected with Auli by highest cable car of Asia.
Chenab Lake - One must pass through the last village of Joshimath, Dang Village to reach Chenab Lake. The place is still unknown with most number of tourists and it is quite inaccessible by motorable roads.
Munsyari - Nestling amidst spectacular Kumaon Himalayas at a height of 1645 m, Pithoragarh is often called 'Miniature Kashmir'.
Chattrakund - It is small lake holding crystal clear water. Chattrakund is situated just 1km ahead of Gurso Bugyal. Located amidst jungle this mysterious lake showers us with fairy tale surroundings.
Kwani Bugyal - It is a popular destination with trekkers situated 12kms from Gurso Bugyal at an elevation of 3,380mts above sea level. The best time to visit Kwani Bugyal is June and September.
Asan Barrage Water Sports Resort - GMVN has developed a water sports resorts at Asan Barrage. The resort is only 43 km from Dehradun-Chandigarh Shimla highway.
